A backup keeps important parts powered when your source dies. There are three families.
FAMILY HOW IT WORKS BEST FOR
Inline All power flows through the battery. Simple and cheap, but you pay the 20 percent tax and active usage counts Short or intermittent circuits and circuits that are 30 percent or more logic
Bypass Root power goes straight to the circuit and the battery is only used when power drops. Leftover power slows the drain Big, always-on circuits of several hundred rW
Battery-checked Adds logic that falls back to raw root power if the battery is gone or empty. The Kore is a checked inline, the BCN core a checked bypass Turrets, SAM sites and anything that must not black out
Joining batteries with a root combiner is series wiring: more output, same capacity, and every battery sees the full load. Joining them with an OR switch is parallel wiring: same output, more capacity.
SETUP RESULT
2 large in series 200 rW output, 24,000 rWm
2 large in parallel 100 rW output, 48,000 rWm
4 large in parallel 96,000 rWm, 16 hours at 100 rW
