Farming is the calm half of Rust. You plant, wait, harvest and cook, and nothing shoots at you while you do it. A simple loop keeps a base fed and gives you something to trade.

Start with hemp for cloth and a few food plants for the cooking pot.

Plants need sun, warmth and water. Put planters where the light reaches them and keep a water source close.

Take clones from your best plants and use them for the next row. The Breeding tool shows which gene mix wins.

Pair crops with the new livestock: eggs, milk and meat feed the cooking side of the base.

Keep a chest of food at the door, so every visitor leaves with something.

Open the Farm tab for the full plant and animal list and the Breeding tool for crossbreeding.
